James Roland Young, age 81, of Nixon, died May 24, 2012 in Seguin. He was born January 17, 1931 in Nixon to Fredrick Lee Young and Annie (Smith) Young. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Martha Young; and a brother, Fred Lee Young, Jr. James proudly served his country in the U.S. Army, retired from the San Antonio Police Department, and attended the Baptist Church. He is survived by two daughters: Susan Young and Shari Lamplear both of Battle Creek, Michigan; a son, Hal James Young of Floresville; three sisters: Joyce Black of Nixon; Helen Mines of San Antonio; Nona Appleton of Michigan; a brother, Henry Young of Cuero; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; as well as many friends.
A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, June 2, 2012 at 3:00 PM at Finch Funeral Chapel in Nixon with the Rev. Don Hessong officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
