Condolences

Condolence From: David Larsen
Condolence: I first met Vashti about 1965 at a mutual friend's birthday party, and I could tell right away that she was someone very special.

Her looks, her smile, her voice, her wit, her keen sense of humor and her positive outlook made her stand out from the crowd. She was a truly amazing and unique individual who loved people, animals, and the beach. Port Aransas became her sanctuary, a place where she could relax and enjoy what life had to offer, including walks along the beach, feeding the birds, and great food at places like Shells.

The notice mentioned that she wanted to be an artist or a painter, and that she was both. Indeed she was both and so much more. She was creative, imaginative, a true friend, a blessing to all who knew her, and someone you could rely on whenever needed. She was also one of the few remaining people I know that wrote letters, really good letters. A letter from her was a treasure, filled with humor and style.

She has indeed escaped the bonds of this earth and is now at peace and out of pain. But we have so many warm and lasting memories of her to allow us to cherish her memory forever.

Vashti, we miss you and love you and will think of you often, especially when we see the next gorgeous sunrise or sunset, one you might have painted yourself.

Condolence: My sympathy to the family and friends of Vashti. Vashti and I were in the same class from 1st to 6th grade at Highland Park Elementary in San Antonio. I have many fond memories of her back then as a close friend. Then we again attended the same high school. Life took us in different directions as we grew up and although I never saw her again she continued to bring back fun memories of times gone by. She was a remarkable person and it was great growing up with her in school. God blesses us in life with wonderful people like Vashti.

Condolence: Jerry and Debbie my heart goes out to you. I can't even express how much Vashti meant to me or how much I will miss her. She was always ready with her quick wit when I needed a reason to laugh. And always near when I needed to cry. She was the best friend I will ever know and had the most generous spirit too. My love goes with her and reaches out to you both.--Suzan

Condolence: My thoughts and prayers are with the family at this time. As far back as I can remember, Vashti was a part of our families' life and conversation. It was neat that she got to live on the old Vorpahl place where our family's history began. She will be missed.
