Obituary for Dr. W. C. Newberry

Beloved husband, father, and friend, Dr. W. C. Newberry, of New Braunfels, passed away on July 25, 2015 at the age of 83 years. He was born in Gonzales on November 15, 1931 to James Earl “Jack” and Annie (Frank) Newberry. Dr. Newberry acquired his Bachelor’s degree from Southwest Texas State University, Master’s degree from Stephen F. Austin State University, and P.H.D. from the University of Texas. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in San Marcos. He is preceded in death by his parents and his brother, James Earl Newberry, II. He is survived by his wife since August 15, 1953, Norma Louise (Caraway) Newberry; three children: Dayna Newberry Miller and husband Bill, James E. Newberry, III and wife Nanci, and Kathy Newberry all of New Braunfels; five grandchildren: Cody, Kate and Cason Miller, Jeff and Jason Newberry all of New Braunfels; and his first cousins: Marie Ashley and husband C.J. of Austin, and Larry Dubose and family of Houston.

A Memorial Service will be held August 29, 2015, at 1:00 PM at the Jackson Auditorium on the TLU Campus, 1000 W. Court Street, Seguin, TX 78155, with a greeting in the lobby beginning at noon. Memorial contributions may be made to Hope Hospice of New Braunfels, the Newberry Scholarship for Athletes of Nacogdoches High School, or the Dr. W. C. Newberry Kinesiology Scholarship Fund at TLU.
