Obituary for Arnold Henry "Pop" Lambeck, Jr.

Arnold Henry Lambeck, 76, faithful Christian, devoted family man, loving husband, and respected businessman, officially passed from life to Life on January 3, 2016.
He was born on February 26, 1939 in Denhawken, Texas to Arnold and Johanna Lambeck. While a young man, Arnold married the woman who became his soul-mate for 59 years, Helen Marie Springs. He truly lived out the directive of Ephesians 5:25, having loved Helen as Christ loved the church. They began their life together in Stockdale during which time God blessed them with four children: David, Steve, Vernon and Laura.
He is survived by his wife, Helen; son Vernon Lambeck and wife JoDea; daughter Laura Snyder and husband Lonnie; daughter-in-law and son-in-law Patrice and Hershel Goodman, all of Stockdale, along with 11 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son David Lambeck; son and daughter-in-law Steve and Ramona Lambeck; and granddaughter Laityn Snyder.
After working throughout the southern United States for several years, Arnold’s career choice ensured worldwide travel when Brown & Root hired him in 1969 for marine construction in England. From there, he was put in charge of construction projects in Bahrain, Abu Dhabi, Malaysia, Indonesia and Singapore.
Arnold officially retired from Brown & Root in 1986 and moved back to Stockdale; however, after Desert Storm, Brown & Root called him back to the field in Kuwait to restore vital buildings. Bechtel then hired him to manage a project putting out oil fires there.
Returning to Stockdale, Arnold enjoyed spending time with his growing brood of grandchildren, always taking an active interest in all their activities.
Once again, Arnold was brought out of retirement when Bechtel asked him to go to Russia to oversee cleaning up missile sites. From there, he was sent to Mexico to manage an off-shore project.
Throughout his life, Arnold made friends wherever he was living, keeping in contact with them for the remainder of his years.
Arnold seemed to draw people to him wherever he went, especially kids. He was a kind and loving man and was affectionately called “Pop” by many more than just his grandchildren. Sitting in his front yard watching sports’ practices and shouting out to any passerby was one of his favorite pastimes.
Living out his Christian faith was very important to Arnold, privately as well as publicly. He was an active member of First Baptist Church, Stockdale where he served as Trustee, was on the Visitation Team and faithfully attended Bible study and worship.
We, his family, thank God for putting him in our lives. He will remain a part of us forever.
A celebration of his life was held at First Baptist Church of Stockdale on January 9, 2016 at 10:00am with the family receiving visitors during the preceding hour. Interment followed in the Stockdale Cemetery. Pastor Scott L. Jones officiated at the services.
Memorial contributions may be made to First Baptist Church, PO Box 95, Stockdale, TX 78160.
