Virginia Ortega, age 73, of Nixon, passed away April 30, 2016 in Victoria. She was born on January 31, 1943 in San Antonio, Texas. Virginia was preceded in death by her parents, Manuel and Adela (Almendarez) Alvarez, and her husband, Jose Ortega. She is survived by her children: Marina Mendiola, Valente Alvarez, Jose Alvarez, Maryhelen Cano, Rachael O. Serna, and Jose Antonio Ortega; 19 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; a brother, Emilio Ramirez; as well as other loving family and many friends.

A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, May 7, 2016 at 2:00 PM at Finch Funeral Chapel in Nixon. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association or the charity of one’s choice.
