Ira R. Alexander, age 94, of Nixon, passed away May 8, 2016 in Seguin. He was born on November 12, 1921 in Steele Creek, North Carolina. Ira was a World War II Veteran who was present at the D-Day Invasion of Omaha Beach. He retired from Union Carbide after 32 years of employment as a machinist. He was preceded in death by his parents, William Carr Alexander and Wilma Smith Alexander Jardo; and a brother, George Alexander. He is survived by his wife of 75 years, Dorothy McMeans Alexander; a daughter, Irajean Black and husband Jim; a son, Rudy V. Alexander and wife Nancie; 6 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; as well as other loving family and many friends.
A Visitation will be held Friday, May 13, 2016 from 5:00PM – 8:00 PM at Finch Funeral Chapel in Nixon. The Funeral Service will be held Saturday, May 14, 2016 at 10:00 AM at the First United Methodist Church in Nixon with Pastor Rhonda Troll officiating. Interment will follow at the Nixon Cemetery.
