Obituary for Paul Edward Lent

Paul Edward Lent
On Tuesday, May 17th, 2016 Paul Edward Lent went to be with the Lord at age 69; too young to be gone from us. He and his wife were members of First Baptist Church in La Vernia for many years. He was active in Bible study, sang in the choir, and just really enjoyed the closeness and love shared with their brothers and sisters in Christ.

After a long battle with the AFIB of the heart, he suffered and survived a major stroke in December of 2013. In October of 2015 he had another stroke of which he never fully recovered. His mind was fine but his poor body could not hold up. He was nursed by his wife Rosemarie, and tended to by his son Robert. He was home, in the hospital, in rehab and home again with more therapy, however, nothing brought him back to health.

He retired from the United States Army as LTC in 1990 after 22 years of service. He then went to work for The Vinnell Corporation in San Antonio, Alaska, Riyadh Saudi Arabia and was Director in Kuwait where he and his wife lived. He medically retired from Kuwait and they settled on a small ranch in Wilson County where he enjoyed wood working, retired life, and spending time with their sons and grandchildren.

He will be mourned by his wife Rosemarie and their three sons Alexander, Robert and Christopher; daughter-in-law Tracy; grandchildren Jared, Miranda and Tayer; sister, Christine; brother Kevin; many nieces and nephews; brother (not by blood) Wayne Lincourt; and his loving family in upstate New York; as well as Rosemarie's family in Germany. His Vietnam helicopter brothers will be at his funeral. He flew missions two and half years, and it was reported he was a darn good cobra pilot and friend. His honesty and integrity made him special along with his great sense of humor.

He was cremated, and there was viewing at Finch Funeral Chapel in La Vernia for close family. There will be a burial of ashes at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery on June 15 at 11:30am. Pastor Josh Walters will be officiant of the service. A reception will follow at the golf course clubhouse is very near the cemetery. Friends and relatives are invited to come to give their condolences. There will also be memorial at a later time at the First Baptist Church in La Vernia for all those unable the graveside service. Paulie, we miss you terribly but take comfort in knowing you are in the arms of our heavenly father.
