Obituary for John B. Hessling

John B. Hessling entered into eternal rest on July 2, 2016 at the age of 83. He was born on January 15, 1933 to Ray N. and Lucille (Bristol) Hessling in Peoria, IL. John honorably served in the United States Navy from 1951 to 1955. He was preceded in death by his wife, Claire Frances Hessling; his parents; infant son, Charles Ray Hessling; grandson, John Jeffrey Foster. John is survived by his children, John Hessling, Jr. and wife Ramona of Maryland Heights, MO, Karen Foster and husband John of San Antonio, TX, David Hessling and wife Andrea of Atoka, TN, Lucy Valainis and husband Tony of Davenport, IA, Joseph Hessling and wife Diane of West Palm Beach, FL, Joan Meeks and husband Jon of Davenport, IA, and Michael Hessling and wife Deanna of Bettendorf, IA; 19 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; sisters, Allegra Hartman of DeKalb, IL, Carol Hafele of Laramie, WY, and Mary Hessling of Peoria, IL; sister-in-law, Helene Zaepfel of Suffolk, VA; numerous nieces, nephews, and many friends. Visitation will begin at 5:00 pm on Friday, July 8, 2016 at Finch Funeral Chapel- La Vernia, and the Rosary will be recited at 7:00 pm that same evening at the funeral home.

Private interment will take place at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery. Father Rodolfo Caballero will officiate the services. Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Vincent de Paul Society at St. Jerome Catholic Church.
