Obituary for Dorothy Lee Riedesel (Dohmann)
DOROTHY RIEDESEL, 89, passed away, Monday, October 31, 2016. She was born on March 2, 1927 in Weesatche, Texas, to Arthur and Nathalie Dohmann. A retired registered nurse, she worked for many years as a School Nurse within the Yorktown Independent School District, as well as a nurse for Yorktown Memorial Hospital and Dr. Marvin Gohlke. She is a member of St. Andrew’s Lutheran Church, Weesatche.
Dorothy married Wilfred Emil Riedesel on July 3, 1949, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Yorktown. They lived together on their beloved farm just north of Yorktown. They have three daughters, all residents of Seguin: Connie Sue Meyer married to Pastor Stanley Meyer, Rhonda Beth Grein married to Glenn Grein, and Nathalie Marie Hall.
Dorothy and Wilfred were blessed with 65 years of marriage in a loving community of family and friends. Wilfred passed through death to Eternal Life on August 8, 2014. Dorothy is survived by her three daughters, six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Her grandchildren are Aaron Meyer, married to Laura Moench (Minneapolis, MN), Michael Meyer, married to Sam Marie Hermitte (Austin, TX), Daniel Meyer, married to Jennifer Meyer (Boulder, CO), Garrett Grein, married to Akela Grein (Seguin), Graison Grein (deceased), Jeffrey Gavin, married to Therese Hall (San Antonio), and Emilee Hall, married to Fagner Magrinelli Rocha (Lubbock). Her great-grandchildren are Isaac and Johann Meyer (Minneapolis), Adelle and Marcel Hermitte (Austin), Finnick Meyer (Boulder), and Reece and Emma Grein (Seguin).
Dorothy was the first of three children born to Arthur and Nathalie Dohmann (Weesatche). She is survived by her two siblings, Felton Dohmann, married to Maxine Dohmann (Victoria) and Arthur Dohmann married to Jean Dohmann (Weesatche).
Visitation will be Friday, Nov. 4, 2016, 5:00 – 7:00 PM, at Finch Funeral Chapel. Service will be Saturday, Nov. 5, 2016, at 2:00 PM, at St. Andrews Lutheran Church in Weesatche. Interment will follow at St. Andrews Lutheran Cemetery in Weesatche.
