Obituary for Marvin O. Lenz

On February 25, 2017 Marvin O. Lenz of La Vernia, Texas passed away at home at the age of 88. Marvin was born in La Vernia on August 15, 1928 to Alfred E. Lenz and Annie (Schroeder) Lenz. In November of 1950, he enlisted in the Army in San Antonio, Texas and served for 25 years. During his time overseas, which included 2 tours in Vietnam, he received the Bronze Star, in addition to numerous other awards. He retired as an E7 in 1975 at Ft. Sill, Oklahoma. Marvin and his wife Georgie (Thies) Lenz moved back to the La Vernia area in 1975. He was a member of the St. Hedwig American Legion #539, and VFW Post 837 in San Antonio. Marvin is preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Lorretta Lenz; 5 sisters and 5 brothers. He is survived by his loving wife, Georgie Lenz; children, Shirley Foster, Marvin A. Lenz, Cynthia Lenz, Rebecca Childs, and Darrell Lenz; 10 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. A visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 28, 2017 from 6:00pm-8:00pm at Finch Funeral Chapel in La Vernia, Texas.
