Condolence From: Page Smith
Condolence: Nearly a year has come and gone since Mike went to be with the Lord. The Smith's continue to lift up Brenda and the girls along with his family. God has His plan and the time frame for such is under his control. Although we often misunderstand what life brings, the Lord continues to be in charge and both watches over us and cares about our suffering.

From a worldly perspective, I miss Mike. His frequent office visits, tales of his family, and discussions of the workplace environment provided a daily anchor for me. Put simply, our chats and work communion brought a sense of normalcy to our jobs while we were colleagues. He is and will continue to be missed.

Condolence: I was out of the office for about a week and was shocked to hear of Brenda's husband, Michael's passing. I know that Brenda and Michael were very much in love and shared a beautiful family together. Brenda has always been such a cheerful and happy person and I know that she misses Michael very much. May the Lord help this family through the these times of turmoil and help them find solace in knowing that they will someday be reunited with Michael. My sincerest condolences to the entire family and if there is anything you need Brenda please do not hesitate to ask me or your other friends at QualTex who care for you very deeply. I will keep you and your family in my prayers.

Condolence: I am truly sorry to hear of the loss of Michael. He made those of us who lacked computer skills feel like experts. More importantly, his visits to assist with technical matters turned into great conversations about family, life, and hobbies. There was always a story to share and exchange. Michael was always collegial, warm, welcoming, kind, and respectful. To his family, please accept my sincere condolences. I pray that your memories of Michael give you peace and comfort.

Condolence: I am so very sad. Michael and I talked often about our mutual interest in motorcycles - usually when some update was being installed on my computer.

Please accept my heart-felt sympathies for his family and other friends.

Michael, you will be missed.

Condolence: I was so shocked and sad to hear of this! Coincidentally I was re-arranging the bulletin board in our mailroom and came upon a thank you card that he gave us when he returned from recuperating from his first accident. When he brought it, it was accompanied by Krispy Kreme donuts. I thought to myself: “I wonder how he’s doing?” and then we got word that he had passed away. Mike was always there to help us when we had computer issues. Not only that, but he was so nice and friendly and often talked about his family and kids. He was actually like family to all of us! He will truly be missed. May he rest in peace. -- Gabriela Cantu Couvillion

Condolence: Mike Brock stands as a lasting example of loving father, dedicated husband and dear friend and colleague. Our countless conversations about life, family and what is important taught me so many, many lessons. Throughout our association, he remained a consummate professional in each and every "ticket" he addressed. But beyond UTSA, Mike will be my reference for the way both a Dad and husband should be focused. I have never known a person to find such true joy in Brenda and "my girls". From an employee vantage, Mike's incredible skills and congenial attitude will be sorely missed. Yet, my dear and close friend has gone on to be with the Lord and we've been left with a temporary vacuum in our lives. However, based on the promise of eternity, Mike will rejoin us in the future. Our family remains in prayer for the Brock family. Through His spirit, may God comfort and support you at this time.

Condolence: I was in Houston all day and just learned of Michael's death. I am shocked and deeply saddened that his life was so suddenly ended and I feel so very badly for his family...I deeply respected Mike for his clarity about what was really important in life--his love for his wife and daughters, the beauty and peace of his home--well worth the travel back and forth to UTSA, and the pride he took in his work in the COEHD. I appreciated his responsiveness and the patience with which he took care of our IT problems without making us feel foolish or embarrassed. I enjoyed our walks to the parking lot at the end of the day and I valued the conversations we had--I felt that he was an "old soul" in many ways. I will remember him with gratitude and appreciation and will keep him and his beloved wife and daughters in my prayers.

Condolence: Mike was a wonderful colleague, support, and a true gentleman as he addressed the technical needs that surfaced in our Department of Interdisciplinary Learning and Teaching. He was utterly respectful of faculty and the students with whom I worked, as he attended to technical details in my office. What a listener and thinker he was. I will miss him, his gentle ways, caring spirit, and dedication to serving our College.
