Thomas “Donnie” Bishop, age 81, of Gonzales and formerly of Smiley, passed away March 9, 2017 in Victoria. He was born May 22, 1935 in Smiley to Robert G. and Myrtle (Perkins) Bishop. He was preceded in death by his parents; step-children: Alvis Ray Malatek and Dennis James Malatek; and two brothers: Albert “Abb” Bishop and Gene Bishop. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army. Donnie is survived by his wife, Martha (Sofka) Bishop; his step-children: Brenda Delauri, Susan Simper, Richard Malatek, Steven Malatek, Glenn Malatek; 10 grandchildren; his sister, Bobbye Bishop Smith; numerous nieces and nephews; as well as other loving family and many friends.

A Visitation will be held Sunday, March 12, 2017 from 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM at Finch Chapel in Nixon. The Funeral Service will be held Monday, March 13, 2017 at 10:00 AM at Finch Chapel with the Pastor Rhonda Troll officiating. Interment will follow in the Bundick Cemetery at Smiley.
