Obituary for Lloyd Alexander Mattern

Lloyd Alexander  Mattern
Lloyd Alexander Mattern, 70, passed away on April 11, 2017 in San Antonio, Texas. Lloyd was born on September 29, 1946 in Allentown, PA to Clarence A. Mattern and Dorothy Jo (Faircloth) Mattern. Lloyd joined the Navy in 1965 and served during the Vietnam war until 1969. He went on to pursue higher education, attaining a Bachelor of Science from Texas State University in 1974, a Master’s in Education from Tarleton State University in 1978 and an Associate for Applied Science from Central Texas College in in 1985. Lloyd then became an educator and retired from teaching in 2003. In addition, he served as President, Vice-President and Treasurer of Concrete Cemetery Association. He is preceded in death by his parents, and sister Emma Marie Goll. Lloyd is survived by his wife, Helen (Fleming) Mattern; sisters, Linda Walker, Lisa Kenedy, Sandra Reyes, and Tracy Reyes; brothers, James Mattern and Mickey Mattern; nephews, Jerry Melton, Scott Melton, Logan Mattern and Ryan Mattern; nieces, Cheryl Toler and Tracy Toler; grandchildren, Ryan Throneberry, Kristyna Throneberry, and Danielle Throneberry. Visitation will be held on Friday, April 14, 2017 from 5:00pm-8:00pm at Finch Funeral Chapel in La Vernia, Texas.

Interment will follow at Concrete Cemetery in La Vernia. Reverend Dr. Josh Walters will be officiant of the services. Donations may be made in Lloyd’s name to the Concrete Cemetery Association, P.O.
