Obituary for Robert Elton Quinney

Robert Elton  Quinney
Robert Elton Quinney, 76, passed away on June 13, 2017 at home in Stockdale, Texas. He was born on March 16, 1941 in Floresville, Texas to Steve Quinney and Johnie Dixon Quinney. He attended Stockdale High School and then served in the United States Army stationed in Germany, from 1964-1966. On July 10, 1965, he married Joyce Robbins. He worked for Braniff Airline for 11 years, the Texas Department of Criminal Justice for 8 years, but his favorite job by far was working in the oil field for 35 years. Papa (as his grandkids called him) loved to play dominos, hunt, fish, and tell stories. Some of his favorite moments were fishing the Guadalupe River with his son, Lonnie and grandson, Taylor. He was loved by all who met him. He never met a stranger and will be greatly missed. Robert is preceded in death by his daughter, Karen Denise Quinney; his parents; brothers, William and Benny Ray; and sister, Anna Adams. He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Joyce Quinney; son, Lonnie Quinney (Phyllis); grandchildren, Taylor Quinney (Ashlynn) and Kasey Correll (Michael); brother, Marvin Quinney (Alene); sister-in-law, Johnnie Quinney; and a host of nieces, nephews and other loving family and friends. A visitation will be held on Thursday, June 15, 2017 from 6:00pm-8:00pm at Finch Funeral Chapel in Stockdale.

Interment will follow in Pleasant Valley Cemetery in Stockdale. Serving as Pallbearers are Kenny, Mike and Glenn Robbins, Lexi, Dwayne, Jay and Dallas Quinney, and Christopher Adams. Honorary Pallbearers are all his domino friends who were a constant source of happiness in his life. The family would like to thank Dr. Kalter and his staff at the START Center for all their help and support during his illness. In Lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Robert’s name to the American Cancer Society, at www.cancer.org or to a charity of one’s choice.
