Mary Jane Bales, of La Vernia, Texas passed away on August 6, 2017 in Converse, Texas at the age of 82. Mary was born on December 23, 1934 in Kingsville, Texas to Robert A. Stripling and Florine (Jackson) Stripling. She married Garry Lee Bales in Devine on June 2, 1981. Mary was a kindergarten teacher for 35 years, and was a member of First Baptist Church of La Vernia. She is preceded in death by her parents and husband. She is survived by her children, Robert E. Calcote, Roy Keith Calcote and wife, Bobbie, David E. Calcote, and Andrew Calcote and wife, Lisa; twelve grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; brother, Robert A. Stripling and wife, Lana; and numerous nieces, nephews and other loving family and friends.
