Maria D. Mejia, age 77, passed away Thursday, August 10, 2017, at her home in Smiley. She was born in Runge, Texas on October 27, 1939. She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Onorfa Villanueva Dominguez; her husband, Isario Mejia; her sons, Isario Mejia, Jr., and David Mejia; and a grandchild, Felicia Cano. Maria is survived by her children: Joe Mejia and wife Virginia, Josephine Cruz and husband Edgar, Joann Nieto and husband Alonzo, and Jessie Mejia; 10 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; a brother, Frank Dominguez, Jr.; a sister, Susie Gonzales; two daughters-in-law: Mary Mejia and Patsy Mejia; numerous nieces and nephews; as well as other loving family and many friends.

The Funeral Service will be held Monday, August 14, 2017, at 2:00 pm at Finch Funeral Chapel in Nixon. Visitation will be held prior to the service on Monday beginning at 10:00 am. Deacon John Moreno will officiate the service with interment following at the Smiley Latin American Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
