Hazel Blandford (Walters)
Hazel L. Blandford, 87 passed away peacefully on December 19, 2017 in La Vernia, Texas. Hazel was born on March 12, 1930 in San Antonio, Texas to Julius Kirk Walters and Lillian Anne Nehr Walters. On February 18, 1949, she married the love of her life, John A. Blandford, Jr. in San Antonio. John preceded her in death in 2007. Hazel was a life-long member of the Mesquite Trail Drivers, and former Chairman of the Bexar County Extension as well as the Campbell Extension. She was a member of the Boldtville Presbyterian Church, and according to her loved ones, a wonderful homemaker. Hazel is also preceded in death by her parents, Julius and Lillian Walters; daughter, Lillian O. Latka; and grandson, John Dale Blandford. She will be dearly missed by her sons, John Kirk Blandford (Vanessa) and Benjamin Ed “Bimbo” Blandford (Cindy); grandchildren, Darryl Wayne Blandford, Sarah Harrod (Eric), Bettye Royal (Joey), J.L. Latka, Jr. (Nicole), Cory Latka (Liliana), Misty Garibay (Tracy), Brandon Blandford (Kristin), Julie Nichole Blandford, Ashlea Elizabeth Tindell (Matt), and B.J. “P.J.” Blandford, Jr. (Kyleigh); 17 great-grandchildren; sisters, Barbara J. Long, Martha West (Wayne), and Lola Spring (Don); brother, Lawrence “Butch” Walters; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 27, 2017 from 5:00pm-8:00pm at Finch Funeral Chapel in La Vernia.
