Arturo Gonzales Hernandez, of Smiley, Texas born August 18, 1919 in Thomaston, Texas went into the loving arms of the Lord on January 23, 2018 at the age of 98 years in Spring Branch, Texas. He is preceded in death by his beloved wife of 65 years, Maria Garcia Hernandez, his daughter Elia Santos and parents Teodoro and Rita Hernandez; son-in-law, Jesse Santos; brothers: Abundio Hernandez, Jesus Hernandez; and sisters: Luisa Luna and Beatrice Zuniga. During his life, he enjoyed praying the rosary, woodworking, gardening, and fishing. Arturo is survived by his brother, Manuel Hernandez, and his son, Filberto Hernandez and wife Emma; and his daughter, Janet Hernandez McClelland and husband Richard; 9 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren; as well as many family members and friends. He will be dearly missed by all who were blessed to know him and love him.

A Visitation will be held Friday, January 26th, from 4 PM – 8 PM at Finch Funeral Chapel in Nixon with a Rosary recited at 6:00 PM by Adella Bermea. The Funeral Mass will be held Saturday, January 27, 2018, at 10:30 AM at St. Philip Catholic Church in Smiley with the Father Ouseph Kuriakose officiating. Burial will follow in the Smiley Latin American Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made by way of mass cards.
