Ralph Dean “Goldie” Oakes, 64 of Emporia, Kansas passed away peacefully in La Vernia, Texas, surrounded by family. Ralph was born on April 5, 1953 in Goessel, Kansas. Goldie married Kerry Marie Wendler on April 8, 1978. He is preceded in death by his step-father, Robert “Bob” Keith. Goldie is survived by his loving wife of 39 years, Kerry M. Oakes; son, Travis Oakes and wife, Maria; daughter, Jessica Jo Beck; grandchildren, Caden and Christina Oakes, and Austin Zimmerman; mother, Hester Keith; brothers, Keith Oakes, Richard Oakes, William “Bill” Oakes, Mark Oakes, and Troy Keith; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and other loving family and friends. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Goldie’s name to Emporia Kansas Animal Shelter, 1216 Hatcher St., Emporia Kansas, 66801.
