C.E. “Babe” Markowsky, age 83, passed away suddenly on April 24, 2018, at his home near Mound Creek. He was born in Houston, Texas on September 2, 1934. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Jo Ann (Finch) Markowsky; daughter, Vicki Jo Markowsky of College Station; son, Mark Allen Markowsky of Mound Creek; an adopted daughter, Becky L. Darce; three granddaughters: Shannon Patterson of Goose Creek, South Carolina, Kylee Markowsky, and Darce Markowsky of College Station; and a great-granddaughter, Jaelyn Patterson. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews; as well as other loving family members and many friends. Babe was preceded in death by his mother, Golda (Cameron) Markowsky, and father, Raymond Lee Markowsky.

Babe graduated from Cuero High School where he was an outstanding athlete participating in football, basketball, track and baseball. He later enjoyed calf roping in small town rodeos and jackpot ropings. When he got too slow for that, he took up golf and enjoyed that sport for many years. He retired from Enron after 30 years in 1976. He took great pride and enjoyment in his family and spending time with them as well as the cows on his ranch. He was always a cowboy.

A Visitation will be held Sunday, April 29th, from 5 PM – 7 PM at Finch Funeral Chapel in Nixon. The Funeral Service will be held Monday, April 30th, at 11:00 AM at Finch Chapel, with the Rev. Mark Collins officiating. Interment will follow at the Nixon Cemetery. Pallbearers: Troy Finch, Todd Finch, Jarrett Finch, Darren Seifert, Ray Brewer, and Monroe Rieger. Honorary Pallbearers: Howard Jackson, Sonny Seifert, Mario Almarez, Charlie Arceneaux, and Alex Arceneaux. Memorial contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church of Yorktown, Samaritan’s Purse, or the charity of one’s choice.
