Isabela "Chavela" Mansanales
Isabela “Chavela” Rodriguez Mansanales went to be with our Lord on April 30, 2018. She was 95.8 years. She is survived by numerous family members and friends. Isabela is the last of her generation born on August 20, 1922 to Plutarco and Isabella (Rodriguez) Mansanales. She joins her brothers Jose, Jesus, Victor, Inocencio, Sotero and Leonardo Mansanales and sisters Lucia Cano, Natividad Arruguin, Guadalupe Mansanales and Daria Peña.
Born in Runge on August 20, 1922 she was baptized at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church on March 10, 1923 site of last Mass and blessing. As devout Catholic, she prayed daily at her home altar and lately received communion at home.
Isabela gave a lifetime of devotion to the family farm. An animal lover, she cared for her farm animals, abandoned cats, dogs, wild animals and birds. She mended fences, cut hay, chopped wood, trim trees and all manner of farm tasks. As long as she was outdoors, she was happy no matter weather, pain and tiredness. Naturally friendly, Isabela had many live long friends who remember coming to the farm since her parents’ time. She was courageous, determined, resourceful, creative, problem-solver, cheerful, witty, clear spoken, a jokester, story-teller, baseball player, dignified, profound faith, Virgen de Guadalupe devotee and for many of us our hero whom we loved.
Visitation will be 5-8pm with a Rosary being recited at 7pm, on Friday, May 4, 2018, at Finch Funeral Chapel - Runge. Funeral Mass will be at 10am, Saturday, May 5, 2018, at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Runge with Father Norbert Herman officiating. Burial will follow at Runge Latin American Cemetery

The family wishes to thank all who helped her, loved her, and joined in celebrating her birthdays at the farm. She loved fiestas, and loved everyone for making her feel so special. Proud of her Tejano-Mexican heritage, how fitting to celebrate her farewell fiesta on Cinco the Mayo.
