Obituary for Melba Laverne Fielding (Bruns)

Melba LaVerne Bruns Fielding, 79, went peacefully to be with her Lord and Savior on June 25, 2018. She was born in Dreyer, Texas, on March 18, 1939, to the late Ernest H and Selma Leist Bruns. They moved to the Gruenau Community on January 1, 1942. Melba attended Davy School for the first five years, then attended school in Yorktown. She graduated from Yorktown High School in May, 1957, and then attended Baldwin Business College in Yoakum where she graduated in May, 1958. In 2001, Melba retired from the Yorktown ISD after 32 years of service where she worked as the Payroll Secretary. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, where she was part of the choir and Melody Chimes. She was always on the go, and enjoyed spending time with friends and family, but most of all she loved her children and all of her grandchildren with all of her heart.

Melba was preceded in death by her parents; daughter-in-law, Rhonda Fielding; and son-in-law, Joe Rodriguez.

She is survived by her daughter, Lori Rodriguez of Victoria; sons, Robert Fielding and wife Sheila of West Columbia, TX, Keith Fielding of Scurry, TX, and Kevin Fielding and wife Tracie of Weesatche, TX; grandchildren, Eileen Rodriguez, Michelle Sober and husband James, Christopher Fielding and wife Samantha, Joshua and Dominic Fielding, Joanna Carpenter and husband Wes, Nicole, Megan and Tyler Fielding; great-grandchildren, Catalina, Anthony, Julieanna and Aireanna Rodriguez, Everly Sober, Kattherine, Brennan, Arryn, Caryss and Evelynn Fielding, Caitlyn Simpkins and husband Franklin, and Landyn Garcia; great-great-grandchildren, Jordan and Celeste Simpkins.

The family would like to thank her caregivers, Jeanette DeLeon, Yvette Perez, Inez Trevino, Leticia Pena and Naomi Rodriguez as well as Hospice of South Texas, for their wonderful care they so willingly provided their mother.

Visitation will be 6:00 – 8:00pm, Friday, June 29, 2018, at Finch Funeral Chapel. Funeral service will be at 10:00am, Saturday, June 30, 2018, at St. Paul Lutheran Church with Rev Tim Muehlbrad officiating. A graveside service will be at Oak Grove Cemetery in Yoakum, TX, at 2:00pm, Saturday, June 30, 2018.

Pallbearers will be Christopher Fielding, James Sober, Garrett Lude, Bobby Hranicky, Keith Schultz and Robert Sikes. Honorary Pallbearers are all of her loving grandchildren; the Yorktown High School Class of 1957; Linda and Jesse Hurta, Idell Lude, LaJoyce Pustka, Mary Wagner and Marvin Hoepken.
