Don Allan Young, a longtime resident of Stockdale, Texas, passed away Sunday. November 27, 2011 at 1:05 AM in Guadalupe Regional Medical Center in Seguin, Texas at the age of 73 years, 4 months and 22 days
Don was born on July 5, 1938 in Robstown, Texas. He was the son of the late Ralph W.C. and Marguerite Simkins Young. He graduated from Floresville High School, the class of 1956, and Texas A&I University (now known as Texas A&M at Kingsville) in Kingsville, Texas class of 1962, where he received a Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education. He was a member of Tau Delta Chi Fraternity. He was a retired teacher and bus driver for Floresville I.S.D. Don and his wife Loretta had just celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary by renewing their wedding vows on Saturday, November 19,2011 in the Selieg Room of the Guadalupe Regional Medical Center in Seguin, Texas. The Rev. Stephen Echols, pastor of Christ United Methodist Church in Stockdale performed the ceremony. Eighty-seven guest attended the celebration. Don had planned this renewing of the vows for a long time and he presented his wife with another wedding ring and her favorite flowers---a dozen yellow long stemmed roses, as a token of his love for her. He was preceded in death by his parents. Don is survived by his beloved wife, Loretta Young of Stockdale, his son Dwayne Young and wife Polly of Stockdale, his daughter Karen Roland and husband Steve of Bellville, Texas, his daughter Lisa Cobb and husband Gregg of Grapevine, Texas, his grandchildren, Nicole Maucere and husband Craig of Grapevine, Tx. Matthew Cobb of Grapevine, Tx. and finance Samantha Shackleford of Colleville, Tx. Erik Cobb of Grapevine, Tx. Allison, Ashley, Heather, and John Roland of Bellville, Garrett Faust of Stockdale, Tx. his brother, Ernest Young and wife Lorraine of Floresville, Tx.; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and his many friends and family. Visitation and viewing, Thursday December 1, 2011 from 5:00-8:00 PM, Funeral Services, 11:00 A.M. Friday, December 2, 2011, Finch Funeral Chapel-Stockdale, with Rev. Stephen Echols officiating, Interment to follow in the Stockdale Cemetery.
