Obituary for William C. "Bill" Dunn

William C. "Bill"  Dunn
William C. (Bill) Dunn, a World War II veteran and longtime homebuilder, died Friday, April 29, at his home in Floresville. He was 90. Bill was born June 1, 1925, in Corpus Christi to Rufus and Ruby Dunn. He joined the U.S. Navy during World War II and fought in five major battles. He married Dorothy Yates in 1947, and they made their home in Corpus Christi before moving to the Lentz area of Karnes County where they lived for more than 50 years. Bill operated a dairy for many years and then raised cattle. He owned and operated Bill Dunn Custom Homes and built homes in Corpus Christi and Floresville and several places in between. Bill was a member of the Church of Christ and worked with churches in Kenedy and Karnes City and most recently worshiped at the La Vernia Church of Christ. He was a guest preacher, worked in prison ministry and taught Bible classes most of his adult life. After Dorothy died in a car accident, Bill married Evelyn Dunn and after she passed away, he married Jean Nunnallee, who provided him much joy and happiness in his last three years of life. Bill is survived by his wife, Jean Dunn of Floresville; his daughter, Janie Holcombe of Karnes City; his son and daughter-in-law, Danny and Margaret Dunn of Sinton; his grandchildren, Candy Reagan of Abilene, Tammy Trevino of Victoria, Wendy Trevino of Victoria, Lonnie Dunn of Pleasanton, Amanda Dunn of Alice and Rocky Dunn of Rockport; 23 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild; a brother and sister-in-law, A.J. and Grace Dunn of Floresville; a sister and brother-in-law, Mary and Bill Cutler of Missouri, and a brother, Wayne Dunn of Missouri. A sister, Margaret Billings, preceded him in death. A visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, May 6, 2016 at the La Vernia Church of Christ. Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. that same day. Services officiated by Curtis Wubbena and Keith Johanson. Burial will be at 4:30 p.m. at Seaside Memorial Park in Corpus Christi, officiated by Buck Griffith.
