June Nell Mueller Garner, 97, died on Oct. 8, 2017. She had been a resident of Yorktown Nursing and Rehab where she received wonderful care from the staff and Dr. Gordon Barth for the past 8 years.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Cecil Garner; her parents, Christian and Bertha Janssen Mueller, who were both born in Germany; and her sisters, Johanna Klaevemann and Viola Gruetzmacher.

The family is grateful to extended family members, Shirley & Gerald Karnei, Margie & Alex Alvarez, and Emma Garcia, who provided much love and support in her last years.

She grew up in the Nordheim community where she was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Church. She graduated from Nordheim High School in 1938. After graduation she worked as a dental assistant for eight years. She married Cecil Garner in 1946.

Moving to Yorktown in 1949, she was employed for ten years by the Southwestern Bell Telephone Company and was active in St. Paul Lutheran Church, The Hermann Sons Lodge, and the American Legion & V.F.W. Auxiliaries.
